The steering committee
is our local organizing group, providing scope and direction to the
branch. All are welcome to attend and contribute at the committee
meetings. We are eager to hear a new voice and gain the help of a lending
hand. Volunteers are eligible for LEED CE hours. Meetings are at BLRB
Architects the 4th Thursday of the month, 7:00 - 8:30 am. For more
information contact Committee Chair Brett DeSantis.
The Branch's Emerging
Professionals program is a loose network of young professionals
interested in sharing ideas, connections and expertise to realize
sustainability goals within our work lives. Connect with us by contacting
our EP Chair Sierra Cocoziello.

Seats are still available
for our January meeting featuring Nancy Johns, Coordinator High
Performance Schools and Energy Grants from the Office of the
Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI). We'll be taking a look at
the relationship between high-performance design and construction and
energy efficiency grant work, plus on-going performance tracking and the
first-year performance results achieved.
OSPI has received over
$126 million dollars from the State capital budget to fund energy
efficiency improvements in Washington's K-12 schools. Project
applications are competitively awarded based on prior award, leverage
ratio, simple payback and persistence. Johns will discuss the types of
programs available, application and outcome performance requirements, and
the tools and techniques being used.
