NEEC Training 
The Northwest Energy Efficiency Council is pleased to announce that we are offering focused topic trainings about the 2009 WA State Non-Residential Energy Code (NREC) in various locations around the state this year.  The City of Shoreline is the host for our trainings serving the North Puget Sound area in their new City Hall that recently was awarded LEED Gold certification.
Training Date:            Wednesday, August 1st from 8:30am-4:30pm

Fee:  This is a no cost event with brown bag lunch.
Light breakfast, beverages and snacks will be provided by NEEC.  There are several recommended restaurants within walking distance of the venue for dining in or take out.

Four topics will be presented and you are welcome to attend any one or all of them. The presenters will be Lisa Rosenow from NEEC and Lauren MacLeod from Candela, a lighting design consulting firm. ICC continuing education credits are available for self-reporting.
8:45-10:30am - Envelope Continuity Short Training
  • Fundamentals of building science and general NREC requirements for moisture control, air barriers and continuous insulation
10:45am-Noon - NREC Envelope Compliance Forms
  • Summary of compliance paths and instructions on how to fill out the NREC envelope compliance forms.  Includes discussion of how to confirm this information relative to drawings and specs.
Noon-1:15pm – Lunchtime Q&A
  • NEEC Energy Code specialist will offer a lunch time open Q&A where attendees can ask their general questions
1:15-3:00pm – Lighting Systems Compliance
  • Discussion of lighting and daylighting zone controls, interior/exterior LPA calculations and applicable exemptions.  Includes instructions on how to fill out the NREC interior and exterior lighting compliance forms.
3:15-4:30pm – Mechanical Systems Right Sizing
  • Mechanical system sizing criteria in the NREC and how it impacts system selection and performance.  Includes load calculation submittal requirements for simple and complex systems and a discussion of how to review this information.

FUTURE EVENTS:
  • NREC Trainings in Bellingham – Similar format as NREC trainings in Shoreline.  Event will be held Tuesday, July 31st at City of Bellingham ITSD Building.
  • NREC Trainings in Issaquah, Des Moines and Seattle – Additional training opportunities will be scheduled in these areas in August and September.  
  • Envelope Continuity Comprehensive Training – A 4-hour training that covers the fundamentals of building science, water vapor control, air barriers and continuous insulation.  This training will be offered in Olympia in August and in Seattle, Vancouver and Tri-Cities in the fall.
